Kirkwood program reports rising internships, 34,000 student experiences expected
Kirkwood Community College’s Workplace Learning Connection told supervisors it coordinates job shadows, internships and large events for 6th–12th graders in Johnson County and expects roughly 34,000 student experiences this year; supervisors praised pathways into career programs.

Christine Bullock, director of the Workplace Learning Connection at Kirkwood Community College, updated the Johnson County Board of Supervisors on the college’s intermediary work-based-learning program and its local impacts. "We provide intermediary services to 6th through 12th grade students in all of Johnson County," Bullock said, explaining the program coordinates school and business liaisons to deliver classroom speakers, STEAM activities and more in-school and out-of-school experiences.
