Community organizers, city staff and county partners described nearly 21 events across Johnson County tied to a new Welcoming Week designation and urged continued support; presenters highlighted immigrant inclusion, minority-owned vendors and countywide cooperation.

Tom Martinez, a program manager with Greater Iowa City, told the Board that his work on the core planning committee for Welcoming Week showed strong interest from other Iowa communities in becoming certified welcoming communities. "My name is Tom Martinez," he said, and later thanked organizers and partners for planning the events.
