Candidate for constable says traffic safety is focus; Selectboard notes position lacks law-enforcement powers

Michael Rebentisch, a Norwich Police Department officer and retired NYPD officer, told the Selectboard he was interested in the constable role primarily for traffic safety; board members noted the town had previously removed law-enforcement authority from the constable and will ask outgoing constable Doug Tuthill whether he wishes to continue.
