Nov 15, 2024

Council authorized staff to proceed with a proposed cybersecurity services contract (vendor: VC3 through GMA) pending city attorney review and approved a resolution supporting an 80/20 grant to convert the city domain to .gov, which would reduce the city's estimated $81,180 cost to $16,236 if awarded.

Staff recommended contracting with VC3 (a vendor used by municipalities through the Georgia Municipal Association) for 24/7 cybersecurity monitoring and services, and asked the council to approve the dollar amount and authorize staff to sign the contract once the city attorney approves the final language. Staff said the city currently pays hourly cybersecurity rates (roughly $1,200–$2,300/month) and recommended a fixed agreement that includes phishing simulation, training and monitoring; staff emphasized a contract clause will permit termination with notice.
