Chief Tim Lang presented Page Police Department's policies and operational use of automated license-plate readers, telling the council the technology is intended to generate leads in serious cases and that the department has restricted access and oversight in place. "Short retention, page PD, LPR detections are kept only 7 days," Lang said, adding that preserved reads can be retained longer when entered as evidence in a criminal case.
