Town staff explained that the state recently sent updated general assistance (GA) maximums that become effective Oct. 1 and recommended the select board schedule a public hearing so the town can adopt the new maximums. Staff cautioned that if the town does not adopt the amendments promptly, people who would qualify under the new state limits might not be eligible under the town's older levels.
