The Marion County Board of County Commissioners voted to adopt a temporary moratorium on new and expanded data‑center applications in unincorporated areas, giving staff up to 12 months to study potential impacts and draft rules. Chief Assistant County Attorney Dana Oleski told the board staff needed time to develop standards for water conservation and cooling systems, electrical infrastructure, noise mitigation and land‑use compatibility before the county considered large new facilities.
