In tonight’s meeting the council took two formal actions of immediate consequence. First, it approved an amended Ordinance 13 making comprehensive text amendments to Title 4 of the Town Code (variances), including a two-tier variance review, a statutory definition of "undue hardship," and an appeal path with a 14-day filing window; council directed staff to return with harmonized appeal/call-up language. Second, the council approved Ordinance 14 authorizing the buy-sell agreement for Saint Mary’s Church at 215 Capitol Street, with a purchase price reported as $3,150,000 and a leaseback allowing occupancy through January 2028 while the town pursues leaseback financing.
