Council forwards Wellhead Protection amendment draft to state review
The Richmond City Council voted to forward a draft amendment to the city's Wellhead Protection (WHP) plan to the Minnesota Department of Health, a step that could make Richmond eligible for certain grants; state review could take up to 90 days.

Mayor Jim Hemmesch opened a public hearing on the Richmond Wellhead Protection amendment draft plan and heard a presentation from Katie Breth, SWP Specialist with the Minnesota Rural Water Association. Breth described the city's existing Drinking Water Supply Management Area (DWSMA), the location of current wells and scenarios if the city needs to add a well inside or outside the DWSMA.
