The Wayne County Commission adopted a resolution recognizing United States Colored Troops Remembrance Day on June 13, 2026 to pay tribute to African American soldiers who served to preserve the Union and end slavery. The resolution was introduced by Commissioner Bell and moved by Commissioner Baker McCormick with support from Commissioner Peterson Mayberry; commissioners voiced appreciation and the motion carried.
