Committee hears plan for roughly $30 million in revenue bonds to fix Rouge Valley sewer system

Patrick Cullen asked the committee to authorize revenue bonds (funded by the Clean Water State Revolving Fund) for Phase 4 of the Rouge Valley LTCAP to address aging infrastructure that serves roughly 500,000 people; officials said work will include sewer cleaning, lining and manhole rehabilitation and will be repaid by 13 customer communities.

Patrick Cullen, division director of environmental services, presented a resolution authorizing revenue bonds to finance Phase 4 of the Rouge Valley Sewage Disposal System long-term corrective action plan. "It is just under $30,000,000," Cullen said, and he told the committee the system provides wastewater conveyance for roughly 500,000 people in southeast Michigan; Cullen said the bonds would be funded through the Clean Water State Revolving Fund and repaid by the system's 13 customer communities.
