Wayne County committee members approved a Fiscal Year 2027 grant agreement to fund the auto-theft unit. Tony Guerrero, representing the prosecutor’s office, described the award as a 65/35 split and read the figures that appear in the transcript: a county share of about $982,060 and a state allocation of $528,802.05. Guerrero said the funds are intended to support the auto-theft unit and that the term would run from Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027.
