The Wingate Town Council opened a public hearing on the proposed 2026 budget Monday as Janet Alexander, reading on behalf of the Clerk Treasurer’s Office, presented the Form 3 notice and proposed appropriations. She said the estimated maximum levy for 2026 is $89,407 and estimated Circuit Breaker/non-collectible property taxes total $6,340; the town expects $30,343 in local income tax certified shares for 2026, with LIT phased out in 2028.
