State representative urges transparency on data centers, warns small towns about property-tax changes

State Representative Cyndvoldi told Ely city council that a bill she helped draft did not pass but that efforts prevented some of its most damaging provisions. She said the bill would have constrained local flexibility and urged local officials to provide specific examples of problems so she can press for fixes at the legislature. "I prefer local control," she said, and described one change that allows cities to set aside reserve funds for targeted projects rather than forcing money back into the general fund.
