Burke County commissioners approved multiple items for the Emergency Management Agency (EMA) and related public-safety planning on Feb. 11. The board accepted a sole bid from Custom Truck for a Quick Attack Vehicle at $185,200.00 and unanimously approved hiring six EMA positions; county staff confirmed funding was available to support those hires and noted the new positions will be certified as firefighters initially.
