A member of the finance committee said the town's net position improved from a roughly $3.4 million deficit to about $2.7 million, but he cautioned that a state ballot measure known in discussion as 'Question 5' could change revenue treatment of the millionaire surtax and reduce state reimbursements. "Question 5 is flying under the radar," the committee member said, and urged the committee to model the potential fiscal scenarios if the measure passes.
