Indiana Youth Institute presents 2026 Kids Count Databook, highlights mixed statewide trends

Indiana Youth Institute vice president Ashley Haines presented the 2026 Kids Count Databook, reporting Indiana's overall child well-being score of 566 (29th nationally), and shared county dashboards, pandemic-era comparisons, and a new 0'000 scoring metric from the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

Ashley Haines, vice president of communications and evaluation at the Indiana Youth Institute, presented the organization's 2026 Kids Count Databook to the Child Services Oversight Committee and highlighted both improvements and persistent gaps in child well-being across the state. "I'm Ashley Haines... to come and share our Save the Child presentation and the data from our most recent 2026 Kids Count Databook, with you all," she told the commission.
