A Lapel resident who lost his house in a storm asked the planning commission what steps are needed to live in a 45-foot RV on his lot while construction proceeds; staff said the town treats RVs as vehicles, not accessory structures, and recommended a Board of Zoning Appeals permit or emergency ordinance route.

Joey Boatmore, a Lapel resident, told the planning commission he has a building permit for his house, is awaiting mortgage funds and asked how to legally live in a 45-foot recreational vehicle on his property while construction continues. "My name is Joey Boatmore, and I live at 3982 South State Road 13," he said, explaining the RV has a freshwater tank, septic holding capacity and an onboard generator.
