Seabrook board finds blade flags violate sign code and asks enforcement action

Chairman Janvrin said blade (pole) flags meet Chapter 13's prohibition on moving or animated signs and asked that the code enforcement officer issue violation letters to businesses on Route 1; the board voted unanimously to request enforcement.

Chairman Jason Janvrin told the Seabrook Planning Board that blade signs—flags mounted on poles that move in the wind—fit the intent of Chapter 13’s prohibition against animated, moving or intensely lighted signs because they are constantly in motion and can distract drivers. The board agreed and voted to request that the code enforcement officer send violation notices to businesses using the signs.
