Rio Grande County tables $45,000 matching-fund request for Homelake preservation project

County Administrator William (Skip) Schoen told the Board that representatives of the Homelake Historic Preservation and Restoration Foundation had requested $45,000 to pursue a History Colorado grant that requires matching funds. Schoen said that request was not programmed into the county’s 2025 budget and recommended the Board consider the donation during 2026 budget deliberations.
