Building department reports permit surge, AutoZone and Dollar General plans approved; wildfire code work proposed

Randy Kern, head of the county Building Department, told the board the office "experienced a large volume of plan submittals and inquiries in August" and noted he attended specialized training on Manual J, S, and D reports and the building thermal envelope. He said plans have been approved for an AutoZone and a Dollar General store, and he expected to meet later that day about a planned apartment project in Monte Vista.
