Extension council asks Jefferson County for $110,000 boost to keep programs running
The county extension council told the Jefferson County Council it needs an additional $10,000 for operating costs and $100,000 to expand a youth program, saying university staffing and local services depend on sustained county support.

The Extension Council presented an overview of countywide services and asked the Jefferson County Council for supplemental funding to sustain operations and expand a youth program. The council's presenter said university staffing support for those programs amounts to about $650,000 annually and that, "what we're asking are the county is additional $100,000 to help with the YPA program," which the presenter identified as a priority. The presenter also asked for an additional $10,000 to cover rising operating expenses.
