Council votes to hold off returning DNR funds and join other communities contesting refund request

City Clerk Nancy told the council there is a DNR reconciliation request involving funds the city received and budgeted years earlier—dating back to about 2018—and that returning those dollars now would create a hardship for the city. She said other cities are also exploring ways to contest the refund and recommended the council reconsider the earlier authorization to return the funds until more information is available.
