On Sept. 29, 2026, the City Council of Deming approved a resolution authorizing the city to apply for funding through the New Mexico Environment Department strategic water supply grant program and to designate an authorized representative. The motion was made by Councilor Julian Monjaras and seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Laura Parra; the meeting record shows Councilors Westenhofer, Monjaras and Mayor Pro Tem Parra voting AYE.
