Morrill board adopts zero-tolerance failed drug, alcohol testing policy in 3–2 vote

The Village of Morrill Board of Trustees voted 3–2 on May 6 to adopt a zero-tolerance policy for failed drug or alcohol tests for all village employees; an ordinance will be drafted for June consideration. The vote followed public comments urging both second chances and attention to public-safety roles.

The Village of Morrill Board of Trustees voted 3–2 on May 6 to change the employee handbook to a zero-tolerance policy for a failed drug and/or alcohol test that will apply to all village employees. Member David Purviance moved the change and Member Kim Schledewitz seconded; the motion passed with YEAS from Purviance, Joseph Conrad and Schledewitz and NAYS from Chairman Neal Hart and Member Steve Engleman. Trustees directed staff to draft an ordinance for the board’s June meeting to codify the change.
