The council approved acceptance of a state of Minnesota grant of $5,200 to fund hazardous materials training for city responders. In a separate authorization, the council approved an agreement with the U.S. Coast Guard to allow Duluth Fire Department emergency support aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Spar.
