Board hears changes to child fatality review process after team merger
Staff told the board that the child fatality review team merged with the community child protection team in July 2025, that the state now determines which deaths are mandated for review, and that the county will submit future reviews to a national database.

Mary Lou, the child fatality review coordinator, told the board that as of July 2025 the county merged the Child Fatality Prevention Team (CFPT) with the Community Child Protection Team (CCPT), changing who is involved in reviews and which deaths the county is required to review. She said the state determines which deaths are mandated for review and that the county began entering review data into a national database in January of the current year.
