Emmet County updates investment policy to align with Iowa Code

Supervisors approved an updated Emmet County Investment Policy (dated 9/22/2026) that clarifies delegation to the county treasurer, eligible instruments, prohibited investments and reporting; the policy references Iowa Code Chapters 12B and 12C.

On Sept. 22 the Emmet County Board approved an updated Investment Policy intended to govern the county’s investing practices, including operating funds, bond proceeds and other funds accounted in county financial statements. The policy text adopted by the board clarifies that the county treasurer is responsible for carrying out investments, lists eligible instruments (U.S. obligations, certificates of deposit, Iowa Public Agency Investment Trust, among others), and enumerates prohibited practices such as reverse repurchase agreements and speculative trading.
