Public works reports filter replacement estimate and lightning damage to wastewater controls

Staff reported the town's wells are producing; filter-treatment capacity is the bottleneck (about 400 gpm) and replacement media was estimated at $40,000–$50,000. Staff also said a lightning strike damaged the plant PLC and several process cameras and that vendors and insurance have been contacted to restore systems.

Public works staff updated the council on water and wastewater operations and recovery actions after a recent lightning strike. The town's well motors and piping for one well were described as recently refreshed and the bulk-water hydrant is back in service; staff said the plant is pumping well below capacity because the filter-treatment system limits throughput to about 400 gallons per minute.
