Village board approves 3% water rate increase and several water system upgrades
The Athens Village Board approved a 3% water rate increase effective Dec. 1, 2026, and authorized contracts and purchases for a reservoir fence ($6,189), a SCADA upgrade at Well #9 ($19,561) and a hydrant meter (~$1,400). The actions follow Water & Sewer Committee recommendations.

The Athens Village Board on Sept. 28 approved a package of water-utility measures recommended by the Water & Sewer Committee, including a 3% water rate increase that will take effect Dec. 1, 2026. Trustee Perkins presented the committee’s recommendations, which the board carried on a motion to implement the rate change.
