Residents ask developer to protect creek and increase buffers at Cane Ridge site

Neighbors asked Meritage Homes to expand buffers, preserve undisturbed green space, and use native, appropriately sized trees to screen the development from adjacent yards; developer said it is matching Metro buffer rules and will include specific plantings in the SP.
The full story
Residents asked detailed questions about buffer zoning, tree heights, and a small creek at the northwest corner of the parcel that feeds a pond; one asked whether the 15‑foot buffer would account for the creek's meander. Kister said the project includes a 15‑foot landscape buffer with shrubs, understory trees and canopy trees and that initial plantings will be 6–10 feet with species that can grow to roughly 30 feet; he said initial environmental surveys had been done and that development would avoid disturbing the stream corridor.
