Apr 28, 2026

The full story

City Public Works presented a two-year equipment plan that prioritizes three items: the vacuum (vactor) truck, a mechanical-to-vacuum sweeper, and an aging excavator. Staff said the vacuum truck is essential, is at or near its expected useful life (about 12–15 years), and has required significant repairs — Public Works reported roughly $168,000 in repairs to date and discussed an estimated $50,000 repair for a failing blower motor while noting the manufacturer is still reviewing whether full replacement is required.
