Board members pressed the recorder about an MVD-linked registration problem that left a pool of voters missing proof-of-citizenship. Recorder Justin Heap said the office used the federal SAVE database to re-verify about 59,500 entries but that a small unresolved pool remains and must be cured by 7 p.m. on election day.

Board members asked detailed questions about a registration discrepancy the recorder described as stemming from an MVD (motor vehicle division) data issue for voters with pre-1996 driver's licenses. Recorder Heap said initial checks produced a pool of roughly 118,000 records flagged for missing proof-of-citizenship; after cross-checking federal SAVE records, the recorder's office revalidated roughly 59,500 of those and now has a much smaller remaining group that must be contacted or verify their status before 7 p.m. on election day.
