Hunt County adopts mandatory multifactor authentication and new AI limits for employees

Hunt County's IT representative presented revisions to the county Human Resources computer policy that add mandatory multifactor authentication (MFA), increased minimum password complexity, and a specific AI-use section restricting confidential county data from being uploaded to unapproved AI services. The representative said, "we are gonna require all Hunt County users to install the Microsoft Authenticator app on their personal device." He added that text-message and voice-call verification will no longer be permitted for MFA and described an exception path for employees who are not allowed to have mobile devices, for whom the county would procure one-time hardware tokens at about $50 per user.
