Planning Commission tables Ryba deck permit pending structural review
The commission tabled Ryba Properties' deck-on-flat-roof application after staff and commissioners raised structural-safety concerns and asked for verification of load capacity and intended use before issuing a building permit.

The Planning Commission reviewed an HDC-approved deck built over a rubber roof at the Ryba Properties site. Planning staff member David Lipovsky reported that HDC reviewer Neumann said the deck met HDC standards, but commissioners expressed concern about structural soundness for occupancy because the deck is a composite installed over a rubber roofing membrane; Lipovsky said he would "have to look at it" to verify structural capacity.
