Sep 15, 2026

The Board approved an amended General Plan last updated in 2006, which emphasizes annexation of remaining developable land into cities, transportation and water preservation priorities, and includes work by Planning Outpost with roughly $140,000 in contract costs and partial BRIC grant funding.

The full story

Planning Manager Jeff Oyler opened a public hearing and introduced the updated Davis County General Plan, explaining the document is a 10–20 year strategic guide rather than zoning code. Valerie Clawson of Planning Outpost presented the plan's components, including land use, annexation policy, transportation, water preservation, and a resource management plan appendix. She noted the county has about 7,000 developable acres remaining county-wide and roughly 3,000 acres in unincorporated areas; only about 2,500 residents live in unincorporated Davis County out of a total county population cited as 380,000.
