County directors updated commissioners that Montezuma County is participating in a state‑led pilot of AI tools designed to flag high‑risk SNAP and Medicaid eligibility cases. "We jumped in on that pilot with 18 other counties. There's 19 in total," an agency official said, adding the pilot has flagged cases that did contain errors and that the state aims for a January implementation of a component of the tool.
