The full story

During the millage hearing a commissioner laid out specific increases in capital and operating costs that he said justify the proposed budget actions. He said ambulance costs rose from $249,550 in 2020 to $394,690 in 2026 and described the jump as substantial: "That's a 37% increase in those 6 years." The speaker added examples for other equipment: pumpers rose from $338,311 in 2020 to $400,016 in 2024, and sheriff vehicle costs rose to $63,942 in 2025 from earlier figures.
