Speakers cited past county practice and asked the board to act as a moral and policy decision.

The full story

During the public comment period several residents urged the board to end Butler County's contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Lisa Bialis (Oxford) said protesters represent working residents who cannot attend daytime meetings and called for immediate action: "End it today," she said, and argued that many people held in the county facility lack criminal convictions. Mike Meyer (Hamilton) told commissioners immigrants contribute to the local economy and criticized recent federal enforcement priorities; Anne Jansen (7 Mile) said a county contract with ICE may be legal but is not required by statute and urged the board to decline participation as a policy choice.
