Residents split over Wind Point Dunes plan to add clubhouse, 70‑space parking on Lighthouse grounds

Dozens of residents and project representatives addressed the Village Board about a proposal to redevelop Shoop Park into a 13‑hole "Wind Point Dunes" golf course with an associated clubhouse and a 70‑space parking lot sited on Village-owned Lighthouse grounds. Supporters said the development could raise property values, improve shoreline protection, and provide a community amenity; opponents warned the plan would permanently alter a landmark green space and bring traffic, construction impacts and environmental risk.
