County to seek cyber grant funding for penetration testing and immutable backups
Vernon County authorized an application for state/local cybersecurity grant funds to pay for professional penetration testing (internal and external) and immutable backup capability; the request seeks up to $100,000 and is fully reimbursable.

County IT staff explained a proposed grant application that would fund professional penetration testing of internal and external systems and establish immutability for backups to strengthen ransomware resilience. “The services in this application is for, professional, penetration testing, both internal and external, and then also, immutability on our backups,” the presenter said, and noted the county will not request the full $100,000 cap based on current quotes.
