Steven Carter, director of special education, told the committee the office has hired two assistant directors to strengthen operations and responsiveness. "Nicole Doucette started in July," he said, describing her prior roles at Cornerstone and as an assistant director in Sharon, Massachusetts. Carter said Jana Coop, who joined about two weeks earlier, brings 18 years of teaching experience in Cranston and has already been "outstanding."
