The full story

Council authorized the city to enter an agreement with Enterprise Fleet Management to manage and lease municipal vehicles after a presentation by Nick Hardwick of Enterprise. Hardwick said the city’s fleet averages an 11-year replacement cycle, currently totals 32 vehicles (31 in operation) and incurs approximately $397,000 per year in repair and maintenance costs. Enterprise projected a savings of more than $350,000 over 10 years, $240,000 in revenue from sales of current vehicles, and an immediate estimated reduction of about $20,000 in expenses in the first 12 months. Councilman Kevin Sherman moved to authorize entering the agreement; Councilman Randy Pennington seconded and the motion passed with recorded yes votes from Pennington, Sherman, Cloninger and Breashears.
