County staff gave an example of how the FY2026 proposal would affect an average homeowner. "For Nueces County, the average taxpayer would have paid $538.81 on a home at a value of $202,917," Constance told the court. Under the proposed county rate the county portion for that average home would rise to $621.39, an $82.58 increase (about $7 per month); the hospital district's portion would increase by $10.82 to $191.90, producing a combined increase of roughly $93.39 for the example given.
