Council heard that motel vouchers will be used again this winter under Jefferson County Public Health thresholds (Oct. 1–Apr. 30): nights with a low of 32°F and precipitation or 20°F or below trigger vouchers; extreme responses at 10°F are handled regionally by GEFCO emergency management.

Staff said the county-managed severe-weather plan again uses motel vouchers for nights deemed dangerous by Jefferson County Public Health. "The season runs from October 1 to April 30," Corey Koehler said, and staff explained the thresholds: an overnight low of 32°F with precipitation or 20°F or lower regardless of precipitation will trigger motel vouchers. Corey's team will distribute vouchers to clients and to people in the community identified as at risk; police have an after-hours process to refer people for vouchering.
