Butte County commissioners voted unanimously March 17 to accept a citizen initiative titled the "Prohibition of Data Centers Ordinance" and to include language for a five‑year moratorium on data centers in the county. Auditor Annie Capp confirmed the petition had all required signatures and was received in time to be placed on the June 02, 2026 primary ballot.
