County drops large-scale geothermal plan, eyes Focus on Energy rebates for building efficiency

Mike summarized internal analysis of geothermal options and said a traditional wellfield approach was quickly ruled out; a newer system also carried technical risks and did not offer sufficient cost savings. "The geothermal system on this building didn't pencil out for a lot of different reasons," Mike said.
