The full story

Victor Morales, director of Botetourt County Parks and Recreation, proposed the creation of a Regional Volunteer Recognition Program to acknowledge four to seven volunteers who "go above and beyond" in support of county recreation programs. Morales said honorees would receive nonmonetary credits usable for sports registrations, community programs or facility rentals. The program would rely on existing booster club nominations; in areas without booster clubs, staff would select volunteers based on reliability and availability.
