The Adrian City Planning Commission voted to approve a site plan for a phased student housing development at 103 North Charles Street, a project presented for Adrian College. The approval applies to phase 1, a single building of eight one-bedroom units (one student per unit) constructed from modified shipping containers with exterior cladding; commissioners attached conditions including final engineering and utilities approval, confirmation of illumination photometrics, and either cladding on the west elevation or an explicit waiver. "What we're proposing to do is construct basically a dormitory student housing facility here," said Dean Frederick, the project's civil engineer, introducing the application.
