Board backs Morehead PROTECT grant application with letter of support

County Administrator Steve Larson presented a request to supply a letter of support to the U.S. Secretary of Transportation for the City of Morehead’s PROTECT grant application. Larson said the city’s total project estimate is $12,000,000 and that the city plans to request $8,600,000 under the federal PROTECT program for storm‑conveyance improvements, flood‑mitigation infrastructure and transportation enhancements intended to reduce roadway closures and pavement damage from heavy rainfall.
